The latest restaurant to open in York is to be called The Star Inn The City.

Andrew Pern, who already runs the award-winning pub the Star Inn in Harome, is teaming up with fellow former Scarborough Catering College alumni Justin Brosenitz in order to launch the venture, Caterer and Hotelkeeper reports.

While Mr Brosenitz is going to be in charge of front of house operations, Mr Pern will take care of the kitchen and so will have to decide what commercial catering equipment he is going to have installed.

Scheduled to open in autumn of this year, the restaurant will be able to accommodate 130 guests at any one time.

Speaking about the venture, Mr Pern said: "It's a fantastic opportunity to work with the Museum Gardens Trust to be able to bring a little part of the countryside to town in this landmark building, flying the white rose flag and using its incredible produce.

"We are aiming to offer the whole package - great food, beautiful setting, warm service and genuine Yorkshire hospitality."

The chef - who has picked up three Catey awards, including Menu of the Year in 1997 - added the menu will reflect his own views on heritage and seek to mix various elements to offer a modern experience that uses the finest Yorkshire ingredients.

Mr Brosenitz said he is very excited by the prospect of the new venture and having worked with Mr Pern plenty of times in the past, is sure it will be a success. He is particularly happy with the location, as it has great views of both the river and Museum gardens, is close to the historic Lendal Tower and because of this he feels like it has a "unique ambience".

Mr Pern is also hoping to regain a Michelin Star in the next year or two for the Star Inn in Harome, which is situated in a building believed to date back to the 14th century. ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801583439-ADNFCR
