Red Hot World Buffet makes good start

The Red Hot World Buffet restaurant in Nottingham has made an excellent start to trading.

It served over 80,000 people in the first ten weeks since opening at the Cornerhouse complex in the centre of the city.

The 27,000 sq ft site launched on January 24th and the number of customers visiting - an average of 8,000 a week - has exceeded all expectations.

"These spectacular early trading figures are really pleasing, on a personal level as well as for the business.

"They provide real validation that customers are buying into our bold approach to take our kitchens front of house, making the primary focus of the dining experience the ability to interact with our five-star chefs and designing bespoke dishes, cooked fresh to order," commented Helen Dhaliwal,  Red Hot World Buffet director.

The company's Nottingham venue is one of seven restaurants it operates throughout the UK, employing more than 720 people.

Other news that may be of interest to catering equipment suppliers is TGI Friday's announcement that it will open a new site in Bristol.

The company plans to launch a venue in the Cabot Circus shopping centre in June this year. It will feature a square 'island' bar area that will serve over 500 cocktails and there will also be an open kitchen. The move is expected to create 90 new jobs, Caterer and Hotelkeeper reports.

"We're really happy to be opening our second restaurant in Bristol. Our Cribbs Causeway location has become a firm favourite with those in the city and the time is right to open another thanks to this strong demand.

"It's great to be creating almost 100 new career opportunities for the Bristol community as well as continuing to spread our legendary Friday's experience within the city," stated David Carroll, TGI Friday's UK director of acquisition and development.

The company recently announced it is planning to develop a smaller 'next generation' version of the brand so it can expand into different areas of the UK.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801581444-ADNFCR
