Ask Italian to open Birmingham restaurant

Ask Italian is to open a new restaurant in Birmingham in July as it seeks to extend to new parts of the UK.

The 150-cover business will be located in the redeveloped New Street shopping centre and it represents the first foray into the city for the chain. Speaking on Twitter, the owners revealed a soft opening has been planned for July 4th.

In order to offer customers the best possible experience, significant investment will have to be made in kitchen supplies, as a range of commercial catering equipment is always required when opening a new restaurant.

Steve Holmes, managing director of the Ask Italian chain, said the development of the Birmingham site represents a "major milestone" for the company.

"We are in the middle of a hugely ambitious programme to transform our existing restaurants but still have plans to open new, large flagship sites. We are proud to have found one right in the heart of Birmingham and to be part of the reinvigorated New Street," he added.

The business currently has 110 restaurants in the UK and is in the process of adopting a new modern look and feel to the interiors of all of its sites. As a result, Ask Italian is keen to roll out a Milanese theme as it seeks to offer diners a unique experience.

Theo Randall is one of the expert advisers to the chain and is described as "the man behind the menu". He thinks Italian cooking is not only delicious, but the best type of cuisine available.

Mr Randall - who has been involved in the hospitality trade since he was 18 - stated he has worked hard over the past three years to overhaul the menu in the search of an "authentic Italian experience". He hopes the current menu offers an atmosphere, sense of style and Italian spirit that is reflected in all of the chain's restaurants. ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801603483-ADNFCR
