New quick service venue for Square Pie

Square Pie is to open a new shop at the Westfield Stratford shopping centre as the brand continues to expand.

The chain already owns stores at Old Spitalfields Market, Bluewater, Westfield London and the ExCeL Exhibition Centre and this new site will give it access to a space that can cater for up to 1,400 people.

Pho, Tortilla and Yo! Sushi are among the outlets already located at the centre and the new venture is set to open today (August 1st).

As part of the revamp, a new look and a wider menu - which will include lighter options - is going to be rolled out. This will see it steered away from its traditional pie and mash base, as smaller pies costing £1.50 are set to be made available.

A range of hot and cold foods will be on offer, including British salads, sweet potato mash and 50 per cent less fat pies.

Martin Dewey, Square Pie founder, said: "We are excited to launch at Westfield Stratford and believe canopies will prove a real hit. We can wholeheartedly say that the British still love pies, even when temperatures match those in the south of France."

In preparation for the big launch, a range of catering equipment will have been purchased. If restaurants want to be successful they need to invest in top quality machinery, as this is central to the food manufacturing stage.

The chain has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, in part boosted by the increase in casual dining. At the recent Glastonbury festival, some six tons of meat and potato pies were sold, underlining the popularity of the foodstuff.

In order to secure additional funding, the company sought help from present stakeholders, the Enterprise Investment Scheme and business angels. Indeed, discussions are currently taking place for the establishment of a further 20 outlets across various locations in the UK. ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801618469-ADNFCR
