NHS tender reveals priorities for catering equipment

With less than two weeks to go until the deadline date for tender submissions on a series of NHS catering equipment contracts set to begin in 2013, the NHS Supply Chain has issued a tender notice detailing its requirements.

The current contract is set to expire on February 4th, with a variety of different tools needed by the health service.

It revealed that the new deal comprises three separate lots with an estimated combined value of between £20 and £30 million over the course of the two years, reports Catering Insight.

Lot One is focused on food transportation systems, such as trolleys and refrigerated plated meal delivery systems, while Lot Two extends to various different kinds of commercial catering equipment.

Some items listed by the organisation include a number of differently-sized gas bratt pans, a 20-grid combination oven, a hot cupboard to hold approximately 60 plated meals, a heated countertop cabinet with up to three shelves and a bain marie.

Furthermore, the contract includes demands for a vegetable processor capable of dealing with more than 6 kg of goods every minute, a gravity feed slicer with 300 ml blade and a 20-litre mixing machine.

Because the contracting authority is making the deal on behalf of a number of local trusts, deliveries will need to take place at various points across the country - the locations have yet to be revealed.

In addition to catering equipment, fridges and dishwashers are also required, while the third lot includes a series of table top hot drinks machines and metal beverage ward trolleys.

The NHS Supply Chain has been tasked with making major procurement savings over the coming years as the health executive strives to cut costs.

With £20 billion to be cut from the organisation's outgoings by 2015, it is clear that it needs to operate as efficiently as possible when it comes to putting contracts out to tender.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801527887-ADNFCR
