Contributing to communities
We lead the foodservice distribution industry by giving back, doing good and
changing lives to support the communities where we live and work.
Meals & More
Launched by our parent company Brakes in 2015 and now an independent charity, Meals & More provides support to children who live with poverty, social isolation and have limited access to adequate food provision and activity throughout school holiday periods. Through our partnerships we’re able to support thousands of school holiday meals each year.
Funding holiday clubs
‘Meals & More provide funding to school holiday clubs across the UK to offer nutritious food and social activities. In 2022 they partnered with 25 UK charitable organisations and more than 250 clubs.
£1 million by 2027
In partnership with our suppliers and customers, we donated £500,000 over the first five years to launch Meals & More. In 2022, we committed to £500,000 more for the next five years.
Over 1.3m meals
The initial ambition for Meals & More was to provide 1 million meals by 2025, and we’re delighted that we have already exceeded that target, with 1.3m meals being provided.
Continued support
We recognise that the challenge of child poverty and food provision is as great as ever, so our new goal is to help support a further 1.5m meals by 2025.
Workplace wellbeing & safety
We prioritise our people by creating a safe and healthy place to work.
We recruit people who want to make a difference for our customers and in our communities. But it’s not just about finding the right people, it’s about supporting them too, and we work hard to create a safe workplace where colleagues have access to support that helps their physical, mental and financial health.
Wellbeing support
Our colleagues can access free 24/7 advice from a qualified consultant alongside resources on financial planning, mindfulness, and more.
Mental health
Our trained volunteer Mental Health First Aiders help support colleagues who may be experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress.
Colleague training
Our graduate programme, apprenticeships, and colleague driver training programme, are just a few of our colleague career development paths.
Diversity, equity & inclusion
We build a diverse and inclusive work environment that reflects the customers and communities we serve
It’s important to be able to come to work and really be yourself. Our growing network of community groups below are helping raise awareness of the differing needs and experiences of our workforce, identifying barriers to inclusivity and equality, and helping us become a more inclusive place to work.
