Former England international footballer Jamie Carragher is set to open a new brasserie in central Liverpool.

Named Moments, the venue will be based in the Liverpool One retail complex and aims to provide a luxurious space in which customers can eat and drink. It will contain seating for 200 people and serve coffee, cocktails and high-end lunches.

New catering equipment has been installed at the site, which was previously occupied by Cafe Sports Express, and is set to open on July 22nd.

Carragher, who recently called time on an illustrious career that saw him make more than 500 appearances for Liverpool and 38 for England, has developed Moments in partnership with City Life Project.

Paul Flanagan, managing director of the firm's parent company - the Flanagan Group - told BayTV Liverpool: "High quality service, delicious food and fabulous drinks will be the order of the day at Moments."

He said the brasserie will serve as a luxurious lunch venue in the day before transforming into a sophisticated bar in the evenings.

"I think it will appeal to Liverpool’s glamorous women and fashion conscious personalities as well as the many thousands of visitors the city continues to attract every year," he added.

The venue will pay tribute to Merseyside's fashionistas through a wall of fame, which will display some of the most stylish females to hail from the area.

Moments is not Carragher's first venture into the hospitality industry as the former defender also owns Cafe Sports England, which is located in Stanley Street in central Liverpool. The venue aims to provide an outlet for casual dining with a family twist and broadcasts a wide range of sporting events.

Earlier this year, Carragher's old rivals on the playing field Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville announced they will be entering the catering industry by launching a new hotel and restaurant company called GG Hospitality.

They will open Cafe Football in London in November and Hotel Football in Manchester in 2014.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801612572-ADNFCR
