Four chef collaboration at Heathrow T2

Heathrow's Terminal 2 is to host a unique collaboration between four chefs.

The Gorgeous Kitchen will be a contemporary restaurant when it opens in June 2014. It will focus on global cuisine made from home-grown produce.

It will be run by former Kensington Palace chef Gee Charman, executive chef of Pont St. at Belgraves hotel Sophie Mitchell, food author Jo Pratt and internet chef Caroline Mi Li Artiss.

Retail director for Heathrow Muriel Zingraff-Shariff said: "As the UK's hub airport we have a unique opportunity to provide an international platform for local talent. I am delighted to welcome an all-female line up to Terminal 2 with a restaurant that showcases the best of British cuisine in a terminal that honours Queen Elizabeth II."

Yet it is not the only recent development announced at the airport. Members of the catering industry will be interested in other dining news happening at Terminal 2, as it seems to be in investing quite a lot of kitchen equipment.

It previously announced a Plaza Premium Lounge will be ready when it opens. This will feature a live cooking station, a daily range of tapas and an a-la-carte menu - with which host guest recipes from celebrity chefs.

Likewise, Leon Restaurants has also acquired a site within the terminal. This will serve a full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner and will become the chain's 14th business, continuing the brands ideals of healthy alternatives to fast food. The nature of transport locations such as Heathrow - where time is a limit for customers - is an ideal opportunity for such quick delivery restaurants. The 2,600 sq ft facility will cover up to 130.

As for The Gorgeous Kitchen, the four chefs have said it "is about delivering honest flavours with quality produce and great British hospitality in a warm and approachable environment", describing it as a "business lounge for non-business travellers".

Terminal 2 reopens on June 4th after its £11 billion transformation. It is expected to have 20 million passengers pass through its doors each year, which arguably justifies investing in this diverse range of catering facilities.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801648622-ADNFCR
