Argentinean steakhouse chain Cau is set to open two new eateries in Cambridge and the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames in the coming months..

Cau's new Cambridge eatery will officially open in January next year and is set to cater for up to 130 diners. The second will open later in the year and is to be located in the new riverside restaurant development overlooking the River Thames.

As a result, staff are now busy preparing the locations for their respective launches, with a focus on getting the best staff and catering supplies to ensure a fantastic dining experience for Cau's future clientele.

Charlie McLean, managing director of Cau, also opened the exclusive Gaucho in Guildford, Surrey in July last year, although the Cau brand is set to be a more laidback and relaxed dining environment for guests.

He commented: "We will be serving high-quality Argentinean steak, as well as many other freshly prepared Argentinean influenced dishes, all cooked from scratch on site.

"We hope that this, combined with our modern and funky design, will create a new restaurant for Cambridge and Kingston that everyone will love."

Mr McLean added that the team behind Cau is very excited about the launch of the new brand, hoping that it will attract diners from an array of backgrounds, ranging from local residents, to shoppers and students.

It is a key aim of Mr McLean to build on the success of Gaucho and he believes the Cau brand will go down a treat with discerning diners in the area.

Elsewhere in the capital, Romania-based Italian restaurant chain Il Calcio is to open its first UK eatery in Mayfair. It will be a new 60-cover establishment on North Audley Street and will be accompanied by a second opening in the capital at the former site of the Saddler's steakhouse on Old Brampton Road.

"We are excited about bringing our Il Calcio product to Mayfair. I believe it will be extremely well received there," restaurant founder Valentin Salagean commented.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801489058-ADNFCR
