Catering equipment companies will get the chance to discuss the European and international market at an industry conference set to go ahead in June.

The Europe Without Frontiers event has been organised by the European Federation of Catering Equipment Manufacturers (EFCEM) and will take place on June 26th at the Marriott Hotel, County Hall, London.

It will focus on trade barriers, the general economic outlook and European regulations and legislation that affect the food service and kitchen equipment sectors. There will also be discussions on reducing carbon emissions and energy usage.

The wider international market will be covered, with a presentation assessing China as both a threat and an opportunity, plus a discussion about closing the trade gap between Europe and the US, India and Asia.

Several leading figures from the food service industry will speak at the event, which also serves as an important networking opportunity.

"With London hosting the 2013 event, this is an exceptional opportunity for UK operators and suppliers to meet with their international peers," said Nick Oryino, chair of the Catering Equipment Suppliers Association (CESA).

"The EFCEM conference annually attracts VIPs from across Europe and from every sector of the food service industry," he added.

Other news that will interest equipment firms is the Catering Equipment Distributors Association's (CEDA) decision to appoint a marketing agency to increase its brand awareness, Catering Insight reports.

Media Consulta has been hired to help the association promote itself through PR, print and digital advertising, as well as social media and the way it conducts one-on-one meetings with members.

"We will help to raise awareness of CEDA as 'the go to' for anyone looking for first class support in catering equipment planning, equipment specification, project management, installation, technical advice and after-sales support," said Matt Rowlands head of Media Consulta's UK arm.

Vita Whitaker, deputy chairman and marketing portfolio holder at CEDA, added that the organisation had decided it needed to rethink its marketing approach and bring in agency support.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801584880-ADNFCR
