Yes, stainless steel pans are so good that they’re trusted by professional chefs all over the world. Durable, versatile, and non-reactive - stainless steel pots and pans are great for high-heat searing. While they do require more oil than other pans may, the results speak for themselves.
To season a stainless steel pan, place it over a medium-high heat. Pour a small amount of oil into the pan, and use kitchen paper to spread a thin coat all over its surface. Once the oil begins to smoke, set the pan aside to cool - this has created a temporary non-stick surface, and the pan is now ready to be used.
Common household items are perfect for cleaning stainless steel pots and pans. Either boiling the pans in vinegar, or scrubbing with baking soda, will lift most burned-on food and residue. Remember, though, not to use an abrasive tool like a scourer to clean your stainless steel pans with, as harsh materials can scratch the surface.
In most instances stainless stain pans can go in the oven. Check the manufacturer’s guidance on your pans before you place them in the oven, though - not all stainless steel pans are oven-safe, and even those that are may have a temperature limit. If your pans have plastic or silicone handles, they may warp in the oven.
While, yes, you can dishwash most stainless steel pans (if they have a dishwasher-safe symbol on them) we would generally recommend against it. Stainless steel pots and pans are rust-resistant, but dishwashing them can reduce their longevity, and some stainless steel products may warp under the hot temperatures.
