Strong growth for Jamie's Italian

04 | 06 | 13

Jamie's Italian has reported strong financial results for 2012.

The restaurant chain, which is owned by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, saw revenues grow by 30 per cent to nearly £94 million last year. This contributed to a net profit of £7.7 million, an increase of more than seven per cent on 2011.

It was a year of growth for Jamie's Italian, as the company launched six new venues and one delicatessen throughout 2012. It currently has 33 outlets across the UK, with the most recent openings - in Aberdeen and Greenwich - reported to be performing "above expectations".

The restaurant chain has become a familiar site in Britain's major cities and its continued expansion will provide plenty of opportunities for commercial catering equipment suppliers.

Oliver's success was not limited to Jamie's Italian however, as Jamie Oliver Holdings, the business that controls his book deals, media appearances and sponsorship agreements also saw profits rise.

It experienced revenue growth of more than 13 per cent to £35.3 million, which contributed to pre-tax profits increasing by 8.4 per cent to £9.7 million.

Oliver's cookbooks Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals and Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals sold well and Fresh One Productions - the television branch of Jamie Oliver Holdings - accounted for a significant amount of total profits.

"Both businesses performed well in challenging trading conditions," commented John Jackson, chairman of the Jamie Oliver Group of companies.

He said the rest of the year will see the business expand into international markets and deliver "outstanding products with real added value, great customer service and a range of delicious and nutritious meals, as well as recipes to further strengthen and enhance the relationship we have with our valued customers".

Jamie Oliver's career has gone from strength to strength since he burst on to the scene in the late 1990s and he is arguably the most successful and well known celebrity chef in the UK at present.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801594175-ADNFCR
