Darrell Wade has been appointed chief operating officer of TGI Friday's.

He has been promoted to the role after spending five years leading the company's commercial team. The move is part of a number of changes designed to support the restaurant's next wave of business growth by aligning its brand and concept teams.

Cain Savizzi has been appointed senior director of operations and he will be supported by Lee Zurybida, who is promoted to the role of operations service manager. Meanwhile, Terry McDowell is the company's new head chef and concept development manager.

"Friday’s is leading the industry with several new restaurants in the pipeline, brilliant business performance and several awards, including our recent third place finish in Sunday Times Best Places to Work," commented TGI Friday’s UK managing director Karen Forrester.

"These feats don’t happen by accident - they come about through dedication, hard work and passion from individuals over a number of years."

Ms Forrester claimed the promoted individuals will come together to form "an unstoppable team" and the new appointments are deserved reward for the key parts they played in the company's progression.

Mr Wade stated: "I'm relishing taking on this new role and look forward to continuing to work with the rest of the board and our thousands of team members across the country."

This news is the latest of a series of developments for TGI Friday's that will be of interest to catering equipment firms.

In April, the company announced that it aims to develop a 'next-generation' version of the brand as it looks to expand into smaller towns throughout the UK. It will also open a number of venues at major transport hubs across the country.

Friday's has also released details of a new restaurant that is set to open in Bristol in June 2013. It will be located in the Cabot Circus shopping centre and is expected to create 20 new jobs in the local area, Caterer and Hotelkeeper reports.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801585594-ADNFCR
