Crown Group Hospitality is set to open its first venue in the UK.

The US restaurant management company will open the Red House, an American-style bistro, in Chelsea this spring. It has installed new kitchen equipment at the site on Elystan Street, which was formerly occupied by the Markham Inn.

Co-owned by partners Sean Largotta, John DeLucie and Chris Jonns, the venue will be the firm's first international opening. The company currently runs five outlets in New York including the Lion, Bill’s Food and Drink and the Crown.

Chef Mr DeLucie will oversee the menu, which will combine traditional American and English cuisine. This will include a premium selection of meats, homemade pastas, seasonal pot pies and savoury side dishes.

Head mixologist Ben Scorah will be responsible for creating a beverage menu that contains classic cocktails with a modern twist, Caterer and Hotelkeeper reports.

The Red House will be located in a historic building that dates back to the 19th century and Mr Largotta said he is delighted with the location.

"I couldn’t have asked for a better location. We didn’t want to be somewhere like Mayfair. We wanted a neighbourhood feel," he told Women's Wear Daily.

Crown Group Hospitality was founded in 2009 and its restaurants in New York are some of the city's most in-demand venues.

In other London restaurant news, the JW Steakhouse in Mayfair has appointed a new head chef.

Julian Ward, who has 21 years of experience in both the UK and US, has joined the company from the Fox and Grapes in Wimbledon.

He has been involved with the openings of several establishments in the capital such as the Spice Market in Leicester Square and Time and Space in Mayfair.

"I worked in the US for three years and therefore have a strong understanding of the American steakhouse concept, combined with my experience in London, where I have developed and delivered new concepts and menus, I am relishing the opportunity to work with the team at JW Steakhouse,” Mr Ward stated.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801566158-ADNFCR
