Renowned chef Marco Pierre White has opened a new restaurant in Exeter.

Marco's New York Italian is a 92-cover venue and is primarily aimed at the family market. It serves a variety of American-Italian dishes using locally sourced produce.

"This new restaurant is all about providing a place where people can go for some nice food and a nice bottle of wine in a relaxed, affordable and family-friendly setting," Pierre White commented.

Catering equipment has been installed at the venue, which is located next to the new Hampton by Hilton, Exeter Airport hotel in Clyst Honiton. In terms of decor, the restaurant utilises black and white chequered flooring and red gingham napkins in a bid to replicate New York-based Italian eateries.

"I have been to many Italian restaurants in New York, so for me making sure the atmosphere is right is vitally important," Pierre White stated.

He added that this helps to send a clear message to the diner that there is a strong passion for the food, quality of service and overall dining experience.

The menu features a selection of pastas, risotto, pizzas, burgers, steaks and rib, while dessert options include tiramisu and New York cheesecake.

Marco's New York Italian is managed by hotel management company Interstate Hotels and Resorts. Nick Taplin of the firm said Pierre White has taken a hands-on approach to the design and layout of the venue and the level of detail put in will add to the customer experience.

He added that an important focus will be to ensure visitors receive a warm welcome on arrival.

Another new restaurant venture is Anthony Brown's decision to take up a 20-year lease on the Dollar Grill Martini in Exmouth Market, London.

Mr Brown, who operates Italian restaurant Pasta Brown, will pay an annual rent of £70,000 for the American steak restaurant and cocktail bar, eatout magazine reports.

The publication claimed the venue is one of the best in Exmouth Market due to its access to Farringdon Road and large outdoor seating area.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801588874-ADNFCR
