New restaurant company Camm and Hooper is set to open its first venue in London this May.

The new premises, which is called Tanner & Co, is located in Bermondsey Street close to the Shard and will provide a 100-cover restaurant, as well as an event space for up to 250 guests.

It hopes to appeal to the growing 'foodie' culture in London, while also becoming an aspirational event space for the creative and media industries, Catering Insight reports.

Justin Saunders, director of food at Camm and Hooper, said the restaurant will be equipped with a range of high quality catering equipment such as induction hobs, plancha grills, sous vide water baths and a smoker oven.

He commented: "Tanner & Co has been designed to bring life to the cooking experience. We are currently finalising make and name of the kit, however, everything has been specified to bring theatre to our offering."

The restaurant will aim to offer its customers a contemporary take on common food, with modern cooking techniques being used to influence traditional meals. The venue will feature a carvery trolley as well as hanging skewers, with guests encouraged to make their own pies.

Its design will provide a combination of modern style and upcycled features. A focal point will be a super-size lime green leather Chesterfield sofa.

Claire Lawson, managing director of Camm and Hooper, stated: "Tanner & Co will be a great addition to a destination that is prized for its world class restaurants. It will also represent the first in a series of event spaces that Camm and Hooper will be opening in the capital’s landmark locations."

She said the company has created a unique space and is "challenging the norms" by offering a menu service that is tailored for the events market.

Camm and Hooper has been financed by the Imbiba Partnership, which has also invested in the London-based bar and restaurant groups Drake & Morgan and Darwin and Wallace.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801554547-ADNFCR
