This year's winner of the Essex Restaurant of the Year title has been named as Parsons Restaurant in Waltham Abbey.

Awarded the honour at the recent Essex Life Fine Food & Drink Awards 2012 ceremony that was held at the Downhall Country House Hotel, the win is all the more special as the restaurant itself has only just celebrated its first anniversary.

Utilising a wide array of kitchen catering equipment and supplies, head chef at Parsons Restaurant Adebola Adeshina has created a menu that is both modern and exciting in its design, drawing on a rich British heritage with a slight West African twist.

He said: "It's an incredible moment for myself and the team. I'd like to thank everyone for our nominations and the support received during our first year of opening."

Born in Nigeria and moving to London as a child, Adebola has helped fashion a unique eating experience in the heart of Waltham Abbey that is hard to find anywhere outside of West End London.

The acclaimed chef learnt his trade at the three-Michelin starred Gordon Ramsay Restaurant, Petrus under Marcus Wareing, Philip Howard at The Square, Eric Chavot at The Capital and Tom Ilic at Bonds, ensuring only the highest standards of cuisine are being served at the Parsons.

Three dining areas at the establishment are spread over two floors, with a fully stocked bar on both the ground and second floor helping to ensure patrons are never far away from some delicious fare or a tipple or two.

Elsewhere, the British Curry Awards - affectionately known as the "Curry Oscars" - are set to take place in London on November 26th and will highlight the best eateries for Indian cuisine in the UK in 2012.

A total of 108 nominees have been put forward for honours at the event, with more than 250,000 public nominations received by organisers this year.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801486484-ADNFCR
