Sodexo earns Food for Life Catering Mark

Sodexo has been given the Soil Association's bronze Food for Life Catering Mark.

It has been given the recognition for its food services at Southampton Solent University according to Cost Sector Catering.

The Food for Life Catering Mark is awarded by the Soil Association to businesses that prepare and provide seasonal cuisine that is free of additives such as tartrazine, aspartame and MSG. It also requires that all food is free of genetically modified goods and all eggs are from free-range hens.

This level of attention placed on ingredients alone suggests the right catering equipment supplies may be useful for any food service company.

It also gives attention to the food-related industries that are not as closely related to the restaurant and hospitality sector. Facilities such as universities and schools often have big food serving demands for related companies, which in turn will need catering equipment just as much as fine dining businesses.

Managing director at Sodexo Education Jane Bristow said: "We are delighted that we have achieved this accreditation at Southampton Solent. We have a student-focused approach, which helps us to better understand the needs and desires of our customers and clients in higher education. This is fantastic recognition of our commitment to sourcing the very best British produce and serving freshly prepared, seasonal meals on campus."

Southampton Solent University's hospitality services manager Lindy Jessup said Sodexo are committed to maintaining the university's policy on sustainable food - as proven by the award. She added the establishment supported Sodexo in achieving the next level Food for Life Catering Mark.

This is not the first time Sodexo has been given the honour either, as - in November 2011 - it was awarded a bronze Catering Mark for its efforts serving food at UK primary schools.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801644424-ADNFCR
