TCG inks coffee deal with Cafeology

TCG is going into business with Cafeology as it seeks to boost coffee sales in its bars and pubs.

Under the terms of the deal, ethical beverage company Cafeology will supply the hot drink at the majority of TCG sites and staff are going to be given hands-on barista training in an effort to make sure customers are offered the best possible experience.

A new blend of coffee has been created by Cafeology to celebrate its partnership with TCG and it includes coffee from a new producer - Coope Dota of Costa Rica.

This is a sector that bars are increasingly trying to tap into and so they need to make sure they have the right catering equipment installed.

Indeed, research carried out last year by the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers found that Britain's national pub chains are now the number one server of coffee. More than 3.6 million cups are sold every week and it offers a vital revenue stream for those trying to cope with falling visitor numbers.

TCG chief operating officer Nigel Wright is delighted to be working with Cafeology, especially as it is an independently owned British company.

"[This move] will give us a point of difference in the competitive coffee market. The partnership puts us on a strong footing to develop our coffee sales and daytime business. Increasingly our venues are trading for longer hours. Coffee is a growing part of the sales mix, particularly during the day and alongside food," he added.

Cafeology managing director Bryan Unkles said a combination of "strong branding, well-trained staff and of course [a] top-quality product" will deliver success and he is confident his business can boost trade at TCG sites.

Since launching ten years ago, the coffee company has set up a number of distribution channels with Fairtrade-audited producers and its hot drinks are now being stocked in a growing number of outlets. ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801606377-ADNFCR
