Restaurant and Bar Design Awards 2013 winners announced

UK wins 14 awards at fifth annual awards for restaurant and bar designs.

The winners of the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards 2013 have been announced, showing the best of the dining industry.

Now in its fifth year, the programme judges restaurants from across the UK and the wider world. It took place in London this year, with many of the local entries winning.

Among the winning entries were a few open kitchens - eating experiences which show off the kitchen to dining patrons. When presentation is key, this means only the best catering equipment and kitchen facilities are put on display. Kitchen Table, found inside Bubbledogs in London, won the best stand alone restaurant - it focuses heavily on an open plan kitchen as part of its experience.

This year's awards featured 670 projects and, out of all of these, 14 of the winners were from the UK. The winning entries from the country were:

Standalone bar or club: The Lost & Found
Restaurant or bar in a heritage building: Apero
Restaurant or bar in a hotel: Atrium Champagne Bar
Fast-casual: Kerbisher and Malt (Ealing)
Restaurant or bar in a transport space: Jamie's Italian (Gatwick)
Pub: Newman Street Tavern
Multiple restaurant: Piccolino Ciccheti
Restaurant or bar in another space: Burgers & Cocktails by Giraffe
Restaurant or bar in a retail space: The Corner
Multiple Bar or Club: Baroosh
Pop-up: Wahaca South Bank

There were also two awards specifically for London. The Roxy won London Bar and Tramshed won London Restaurant.

As part of the ceremony, there was also a challenge for four different themed areas which used only white products in their design - all entrants were prior winners of the best restaurant or bar titles. Among the teams taking part were well known designers, including Busaba Eathai, Guoman Hotels and Galvin La Chapelle.

The event was held at the Farmiloe Building where designers transformed various rooms and spaces into designer restaurants and bars, showcasing the best talent, skills and designs in the industry.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801637882-ADNFCR
