The Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) has appointed a new chair for its operations in the UK and Ireland.

Niccola Boyd-Stevenson will fill the role and replaces David Bentely, who has stepped down after two years in the position.

Ms Stevenson is currently the managing director of Panache Consultancy, which provides catering and hospitality advice and solutions for the food service industry.

She claimed her primary focus as leader of the FCSI will be to increase collaboration among its members throughout the sector.

"As the only professional organisation for catering management and design consultancy, the executive team and I will be working with our members to influence best practice, infiltrate government policy and standardise good practice across the industry," she stated.

Ms Stevenson added that she will encourage FCSI members to cooperate on projects in Europe and worldwide that will play to their particular skills and resources.

The new chair has 25 years worth of experience in the food service sector, much of which has been spent in education and the health service. At one point in her career she was the youngest NHS catering manager on record, Catering Insight reports.

She will spend two years leading the FCSI and will soon reveal the members of the organisation's new executive committee. It has already been announced that Andrew Etherington of Andrew Etherington Associates will take up the role of vice-chairman.

While speaking about her appointment, Ms Stevenson praised the achievements of her predecessor Mr Bentley, who she claimed made a "huge impact" while leading the FCSI. She added that she hopes to continue his efforts by encouraging cooperation and professional development among members.

The FCSI is an international association that sets standards for the food service industry and provides advice and assistance for businesses on a range of issues such as catering equipment, food concepts and hygiene.

It regularly hosts events that aim to inform its members of best practices and allow companies to learn from one another. ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801600381-ADNFCR
