Blue Rainbow ApartHotels to launch tearoom franchise

The team behind Blue Rainbow ApartHotels have announced a new potential franchise called Tea 42.

These restaurants restaurants will aim to offer an 'alternative' style of venue. Locations will feature local produce and aim to "serve a large selection of specialty, hand-blended teas, locally-sourced cakes and high-quality, light refreshments".

An initial venture is being set up in Manchester, with £325,000 being pumped into the first Tea 42 restaurant. Set to open later in the autumn, it will be found in the Blue Rainbow ApartHotel near the Manchester Arndale.

If successful, the Manchester business could see the start of a new franchise. This potential investment will be of interest to catering equipment suppliers, as the Blue Rainbow team will be looking to open new Tea 42 rooms across the country.

Managing director for Blue Rainbow ApartHotels and Tea 42 Will Hannah said: "The new venue will be positioned as an alternative to other market-leading coffee houses and daytime refreshment bars. Tea 42 reflects what we have always been good at - creating a new niche by cherry-picking the best ideas in the market and combining them into something truly unique."

Speaking to Big Hospitality, Mr Hannah claimed the group plans to open 20 stand alone outlets for the franchise within the first two years, although restaurants will also be found within Blue Rainbow locations at Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester. Mr Hannah believes most cities will be able to accommodate two Tea 42s.

Food wise, the chain aims to offer an extensive range of gluten-free food, including cakes and locally sourced gluten-free beers. Although not everything will be free of gluten, the healthier alternative will be a large part of Tea 42's 'alternative' focus.

The Manchester location will cover 60, with a mix of formal and casual seating alongside a few private booths. This is a competitive size for a restaurant and, if taken nationwide, has the space to receive a lot of business.ADNFCR-16001031-ID-801635060-ADNFCR
