Apprenticeship Awards Nominated

The second annual Apprenticeship Awards - hosted by the Hospitality Guild - will take place on December 3rd.

Speaking to Eat Out Magazine, executive director of the Hospitality Guild Suzy Jackson said: "The calibre of nominees last year shows that our industry is full of inspiring apprentices and strong support networks of mentors, employers and providers."

If other awards give praise to ongoing success, these awards show the potential of new people entering the business. There are also awards for best employer, both for large and small businesses, showcasing some of the best companies to work under.

Other awards will be looking for the best intermediate apprenticeship, expert apprenticeship, partnership and mentor of the year.

If one of the winners is a chef, they will be able to work under and gain experience from Cyrus Todiwala - a famous TV personality and proprietor at The Park Cage, Mr Todiwala's Kitchen and Cafe Spice Namaste.

Ms Jackson said: "It is only right to be able to continue to help develop the winners through the career enhancement opportunities we have organised."

Nominations can still be submitted until October 7th.

New Hotel of the Year award shortlist

Eight hotels have made the shortlist for New Hotel of the Year.

The award, which takes place at Olympia in London on October 30th, looks for hotels that have shown success and high quality during their first three years since opening. It highlights emerging luxury in the hotel industry.

Alongside the competition, figureheads and experts in the hospitality industry will be available to offer advice and insights into the market.

The two main awards are "outstanding new hotel of the year" and "independent hotelier of the year".

There are eight restaurants in the running for the former. This includes six hotels from London - the Ampersand, ME Hotel, Corinthia Hotel, 45 Park Lane, South Place Hotel and Wellesley. These are joined by Edgar House in Chester and the Pig, found in Brockenhurst, Hampshire.
